In The Beginning...Fall of 2002

The very first site preparation was done by Ralph Wright and Walt Schroeder of S.O.W.E.R.S.
That stands for "Servants On Wheels Ever Ready".
They are Seniors who travel the country in RV's doing volunteer mission projects.

The footings were put in by a mission team from House of the Lord Church,Oldtown, Idaho.
Members of the team were: Pastor Stan Fleming, Mike Croston, Kirk Schneider,
and Ralph Wright from New Life Border Ministries.

Ralph Wright has the plastic down and is ready for cement.

A professional cement team came from First Presbyterian Church
Hillsboro, IL.
They brought a "helicopter" for a glass-smooth floor.

The end result is beautiful!

2003

Our very first adobes...
our vision was becoming a reality.
We were SO excited!

Dan and Christine Furtney, Mike and Laurie Graham and Evie
came from Priest River, Idaho and Newport, Washington,
to weld door and window frames.
They also made hundreds of "Gringo" boxes.
Gringo boxes are 16" x 8" 2 x 4 frames
that are put into the stucco walls at about a 5' level.
Since coat hooks and picture hooks
cannot be screwed into stucco walls
without cracking and splitting the walls,
the Gringo boxes allow for these items
to be nailed into them.
Dan Furtney preached and Mike Graham ministered
in testimony & singing at a church
in Miembre, Mexico during their mission trip as well.
Laurie, Chris & Evie with Mexican children
and preparing a Food Distribution.

Paul and Sharon Schliep, Pastors of Santa Margarita Community Church
in Santa Margarita, California came to visit
and "scope out our work and projects".
They went home with a very good report
and have been instrumental in sending numerous mission teams
to us over the years.
